Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids - FIRE OS 7.3.1.9
I bought 2 identical (except for color) Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Tablets. I installed 2 identical Samsung EVO Select 256GB MicroSDXC cards and configured both as portable storage and configured Plex Player to use external storage on both.
I initially set up managed users under my Plex admin account attempting to only share certain movies with my kids but sync got stuck in “pend” mode. After reviewing heaps of forum feedback/complaints I decided to forget the idea of managed accounts and logged in using my admin account on both devices.
I was able to sync a complete movie playlist (82 movies) to one tablet with absolutely no issues (just started sync and waited until done).
The other tablet appears to sync (space is consumed on the external storage and progress indicator is shown - albeit the progress indicator jumps around a bit and sync stops from time-to-time during the sync and I have to refresh screen/status to kick it along). Eventually it even seems to complete (shows ‘not syncing status’ and the refresh doesn’t start it syncing again) but zero content is available when offline.
I’ve been trawling forums and haven’t managed to find anyone with quite this issue (identical devices behaving differently) and the things I’ve tried have yielded no results. I’ve deleted Plex Player and reinstalled, deleted ‘offline’ content (the stuff I can’t see but is apparently there as I am unable to start sync again until I delete it all first) and tried again and again. . .tried syncing one movie (vs playlist) same result.
Out of ideas and very confused. Would love some help. Last resort is to reset entire Fire back to factory,. . .but given I am not confident that’ll fix anything I am loathed to try given all the other stuff I’ll wipe out.
Thanks , Craig
