So I’m not necessarily complaining as “it just works.” Basically the last UI design where the navigation menu that now pops out of the side, used to be a bar on top. That made it feel modern and complete. This new ui seems like a downgrade. I understand that you wanted all devices to have the same design but why not make it the last one that felt modern vs this one that feels like a step down on design. Then keep mobile and tablet the way they are now.
Because that older one was generally hated when it was introduced.
Eventually when it was brought to the Roku the ■■■■ hit the fan.
Hence the newer UI which more often than not gets a lot of love.
But as with everything it’s all down to personal taste and Plex will never be able to please everybody.
“Modern” isn’t always a good thing, and being modern is rarely a good reason for changing something. The top-bar navigation UI was inefficient and non-intuitive, and was a disappointment compared to the UI it replaced. It was so hated, in fact, that Plex re-instated the previous UI (of the Roku app) as a “classic” app, and left it available as long as they could, until the Roku platform changed and made the classic app unable to function. I’m reminded of the uproar caused by Windows 8, and the removal of the Start menu, prompting the quick (-ish) release of 8.1.
The new “Uno” design largely returns to the more popular “sidebar” menu, makes better use of screen space, and adds several features that had been requested for ages.
As Hitsville, said, making everyone happy will never happen, but the new Uno UI has far more fans than its predecessor.
