Unable to access Plex configuration page (server stopped working)

Plex has been working great for many months running off my MyCloud EX2 NAS. As of just a few days ago I am unable to connect to the server. Hitting “configure” from the MyCloud EX2 Apps section results in:

This webpage is not available
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I have turned off windows firewall
I have rolled back the MyCloud EX2 firmware
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Plex server
I have rebooted
I have tried other browsers
I’ve tried checking https://app.plex.tv/web/app (can’t find server).

Somehow http://192.168.1.17:32400/web is blocked or inaccessible.
Any ideas of what I can do next? Help!

I have precisely the same issues, and has been an inconsistent error each time I’ve upgraded the PLEX Nas software. I have been able to remedy in the past with no precise reason, or it has miraculously reappeared.

At this time, I have performed all the same troubleshooting as OP and still can’t access the configuration. I’ve attempted to install, uninstall, and reinstall the software numerous times using multiple methods of turning on/off the NAS app (including the most updated 09152.1663 build and the latest WD firmware - contrary to the solutions posted by PLEX in separate posts), installing automatically and manually, and rebooting my EX2 in between steps.

Meanwhile, the EX2 is performing brilliantly within the WD UI without any issues.

MyCloudEX2 Firmware: 2.11.133
PMS Version: 0.9.15.2.1663

I have no idea if this was a setting I toggled by accident or if it was some default from updating firmware. it’s very possible I checked “Enable server support for IPv6” in PLEX settings, not knowing this would have any negative repercussions. I suggest PLEX put some sort of warning, for users to make sure IPv6 is also enabled on your NAS.

  • Under Settings/Network toggle IPv6 Network Mode to AUTO then hit OK.
  • Reboot NAS

I figured this out from the other thread which was having issues mapping 32400 with IPv6.

Once you can access PMS again, you can turn off the “Enable server support for IPv6” setting.

Glad to hear the OP was able to resolve. Unfortunately, my issues persist, as I was able to retool the IPv6 settings on my NAS and Router, but am still unable to launch the PLEX NAS app. In fact, I am now completely unable to install the PLEX app on the EX2 either from the app list or manually.

I have a WD EX4100 with exactly the same issues, I have tried reinstalling the latest version available an all sorts of other things that have been suggested, what ever I do I get (Chrome) ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED instantly. Using version 09156.1714 and still no joy. HELP!!! Please ;o)

I am also suffering from this issue. I have, and have always had since installing DL4100, IPv6 running in my network. I’ve tried all of the above with no success. Help is appreciated.

After tinkering with this for a while, I was able to fix this by doing the following:

Enable SSH services
Login to the device via SSH
Navigate to: /nfs/Volume_1/plex_conf/Plex Media Server
Delete the Preferences.xml file
Reboot

I can SSH into my DL2100 but it won’t allow me to navigate to the Plex Media Server folder. I can only get as far as Plex_Conf before it disallows me from continuing.

Same issue and toggling the IPv6 to Auto on my NAS corrected it, however on PMS the setting for Enable IPv6 is not toggled…weird. Thanks for the help

Same issue and same way to solve it!! Thanks a lot.

Enabling IPv6 also worked for me. Thanks!

had the same issue on my WD My Cloud Mirror Gen 2 since the last update.
There is no option to enable IPv6 or set IPv6 to Auto.
Only deleting the preferences.xml file via SSH worked for me. THANKS!

Can anyone explain how to delete the preferences file as the other fixes aren’t working for me.

Had this exact confounding problem on my PR2100 — toggling IPv6 to AUTO fixed it, after two days of head-banging (and not finding this thread until tonight)! Thank you, @adamelmore.

BTW when I finally could get to the Plex server settings page again, the Enable server support for IPv6 box was NOT checked, so go figure.

Going to network settings IPv6 to Auto was the fix! A small box popped up with some boxes to input something but I just left them blank. Thanks!

OMFG! I have been banging my head against this thing trying to get it to work, and simply enabling IPv6 and rebooting fixed the problem. Thank you!

This worked for me as well. I would like to see Plex.tv and WD fix this. It would be a great help if Plex would auto update or at least update with a single click. The pain that this problem caused me was just short of torture. Sad I know.

The IPv6 thing did it. Thank you!

I’ve also been tearing my hair out for the last 48 hours - this did it for me. Thanks for your help!
