After updating Plex password the other day, myself and remote users can no longer connect to my Unraid server. I had to reclaim my server which took a bit to figure out but I can use Plex locally in my house but not outside it. I have an Xfinity router that does not let me port forward, but I do use the manually specific public port option under “settings - remote access”. I’m running the current Plex-Media-Server Container in Unraid Docker Version 1.42.1.10060. All remote access worked perfectly before password update. Any help would be appreciated.
I did the password change a couple of hours ago. I lost remote access until I restarted the server after the reclaim.
Unfortunately all my users also got their library shares reset, so I had to manually add them back.
I use a ubuntu server Plex and also could not access remotely my server. My setup use a Cloudflare Tunnel, to solve this problem i had to turn on and then off remote access option in the Server options, then magically it started to work again…..
You need to claim the server. To do this, you must access your Plex Server via the web, log in, and claim it from:
- Settings
- “Server Name”
- “Claim”
In my case, I have Plex Server on a QNAP NAS. I had to access the Plex app from the QNAP, open a Plex webpage, and after logging in, I was able to claim the server from there.
I imagine many NAS systems will have a similar approach.
Hope this helps.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I’ve been able to reclaim my server, I’m only having issues with Remote Access. Nobody can get in from outside my house. I’ve tried, reboot, unchecking and rechecking the “manually specific public port” option under “settings - remote access”. Still no luck.
Same issue here. Reclaiming worked. Did it several days ago after password reset. But remote access is failing consistently and quickly.
If you had to reclaim your server, you would get a new security certificate and a new secured url address. The clients are likely still using a cached copy of the old address. Signing out and back in on the client end should update to the new address.
I just got my remote users back in and watching my server. I decided to remove the “claim” I did after updating my password. Reclaimed the server again, and now magically all my remote users can connect and watch. I wasn’t able to do the normal way of “Reclaiming” my server after password update. I had to get a cert, paste it into the Plex Container, that allowed Plex to find my server which was missing after password update. Being that Plex saw I had claimed my server, obviously doing it via the container and not via the “Settings - General- Reclaim Server” method I thought I was good to go until my remote clients couldn’t connect. Not 100% sure if I’m on the correct path for the solution, but it’s working and myself and my friends are happily enjoying my server again.
