Unable to Access Plex Securely from External network

I am unable to access my Plex server from plex.tv or manually entering my external IP address plus :32400/web

This used to work until after (I believe) Plex made the changes to a secure connection.

So, basically all the port forwarding rules and DNS used to work until https://blog.plex.tv/2015/06/04/its-not-easy-being-green-secure-communication-arrives/

I can access the server locally via http or https entering the host name or IP address of the plex server, but locally or outside my network I am unable to access plex from plex.tv

Remote Access under the Server settings fails. Not sure why if nothing changed on my network.
Port forwarding to 32400 is configured on my router and Synology server

Secure connection under “network” settings is set to “preferred”

DSM 5.2-5592 update 1
Plex Media Server 0.9.12.4.1192

Any ideas?

what url’s does the xml show returned by:

plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=1

and these plex.direct url’s what do you get when you do nslookup on each

and also check xml from
plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=0

I just sent you a PM. I am not seeing any plex.direct url’s (unless I can’t find it) I sent you a screenshot of what I am looking at…I am unsure if I can post it here.

for both xml links is the same output

The synology Plex Media Server is not connected to plex.tv and does not show in the xml

If Plex Media Server process is running on the synology could you could connect it via the local ip address
192.168.1.xxx:32400/web

And if you can get through to it in this way, select Settings / Server / General and then sign in to plex.tv

I am already signed in to Plex

The xml you sent me does not show it signed in

May be you have two different plex.tv accounts (Valdezf and D007?)

Try sign out and sign in again and make sure it is the right account

Also the Remote Access shows Red Status above in the screen shot

The login account is not the problem. I just changed it and logged in to the plex server again just to make sure the user account is not the issue.

So, I can login with no issues from my local network using the synology server domain name and ip address, but not from plex.tv or from outside my network

The Red Status as mentioned before is because it seems port forwarding is not working. Not sure why not when it was always working before.

see the screenshots

Thanks for your help!

You have the usual things to check for like MTU Size / Jumbo Frames, Double NAT

See Troubleshooting Remote Access

Check if the server and 192.168.1.200 local ip does show up in this xml
https://plex.tv/pms/servers

Please also have a look at this topic where trumpy81 gave advice on Synology firewall

Disabling Jumbo frames on my second router resolved the issue (after a server restart).

I am not sure why it doesn’t work anymore but it always did with the Jumbo frames enabled.

Thanks for your help sa2000!!

Having a similar issue - and I am logged in using plex.tv to the website… but when I click those to links… I get “sign in first” so I dont get to see the XML… what to do now? Its an ASUS router.
