Unable to access the Plex Media Server from my NAS

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244-7000
Player Version#:

I am using a Synology with DSM 7.1-42661 Update 4. When I click on my Plex server on the NAS desktop, it takes me to my quick connect URL (http://xxxxx.synology.me:32400/web) I think get the response that “This site can’t be reached” ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. But when I go to the local IP address of the server, (http://192.168.1.xxx:32400/web/) it works fine. All my other apps work fine with my quick connect URL. What do I need to do to fix this issue with my quick connect URL? Everything works fine when using remote apps to access my server.

don’t use QuickConnect URLs – either use the server’s local IP address or https://app.plex.tv/desktop

Any idea how to change the URL on DSM? When I click on the Plex icon it automatically takes me to the quick connect URL.

Turn off QuickConnect.

If you’re seeing a URL, then the NAS is on a different network/subnet as far as the NAS is concerned.

When all else fails:

  1. Uninstall (keep radio button)
  2. Install same SPK again using Plex Claim Token method.

So, turned off quick connect and turned off the ability to access the NAS through a DDNS. I then uninstalled 3 different times with the various uninstall methods. It continued to try to connect with a hostname and not IP address.

I get that, but with the Synology, it has an icon to connect to the server. The icon takes me to the URL/DDNS address.

@ajhushen

When QuickConnect is off and everything is signed out,

With you on the same subnet as the Syno,

You will see the LAN IP address

I have quick connect off and the DDNS service shut off. I mean, should I restart the NAS? I don’t know what other places to shut if off. I am also on the same subnet, 192.168.1.xxx They are both wired to a single router.

Log out and back in. It should not be bothering you that way.

As secondary test, I added the Plex icon from the main menu to the desktop then clicked it. it opened, as expected, with the IP address.

My NAS does have a proper FQDN, with cert, attached and it’s all working

The only time I will get a named URL is when I open the NAS itself using the URL.

I may have gotten it working now. I now have an IP address as yours is displayed above. I know I’m on a LAN, but is there a way to change it to HTTPS vs HTTP? I’ll see if I can activate my FQDN later today. Thanks for your help and advice!
