Server Version#: Ubuntu 18.04.03 LTS
Player Version#: 1.18.1.1973
I have installed the plexmediaserver on a Ubuntu cloud VM and tried to add the new server to Plex by navigating to http://public_ip:32400/web but when I go there it just says “No soup for you!” so I cannot start the initial server configuration and add some libraries. The plexmediaserver is loaded and active but I have also tried to restart it just in case. I have also tried to start this process from the app.plex.tv but again no success by adding the server to my Plex account. I have checked the log files and there also seems not to have anything worrying. I am running on this server in parallel Wireguard and Pi-Hole so I was thinking that this might be the problem. The server is also listening on port 32400. Any ideas what additionally I should check?
Pretty sure you will need to use/create a ssh tunnel to your VM for the initial setup
See: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/
The section: On a Different Network
I confirm that if I ssh to the server with local port forwarding enabled I was able to add it to Plex and but for some reason I am unable to add the library using http://localhost:32400/web so I needed to navigate to https://app.plex.tv in order to do it. I am also having a problem with the remote access to my server.
afaik, you only need the ssh tunnel for the initial setup, once you have claimed the server you can shutdown the tunnel.
You ‘should’ then be able to access it via http://ipadress:32400
although app.plex.tv is probably the prefered way of accessing it as this tends to be newer than the version that comes with PMS
