We have uploaded a new compilation music album from CD to our Library on Plex and found that it has set the Album Artist to the same as in a completely different compilation already in our Library. We have tried entering the album and editing the Album Artist but each time it reverts to the same (incorrect) Album Artist. Now feeling stressed - any advice will be very welcome!
is the music named according to the requirements within the media prep FAQ [link] (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200265296-Adding-Music-Media-From-Folders) here?
I experienced this same issue. I use Windows Media Player to rip in the CD’s.
If you are using WMP this fix could help you.
Firstly in WMP make sure you are in “Expanded Tile” (Right hand side) . On the Left Hand Side you will now see the disc Info. Where is says Various Artists Right Click and Edit. Change it to whatever you want, Ie if the Disc Name is Called Assorted Funk Disc 1, Artist - Various, Change Artist to Assorted Funk Disc 1. Then Rip.
When you bring it into Plex, you will then be able to Amend the Album Artist, if you want to.
I have only tried this in WMP, and I have ripped a 4 CD compilation with no issues.
It’s not an absolute solution, rather a good work around in WMP. Other players may have a similar way to edit the various artists.
Hope it helps

You should never include something like Disc 1
into the name of an Album. Just don’t.
There exists a separate meta tag for the disc number - use it.
