Unable to choose recording location on Firestick 4k

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3839 (linuxserver docker)
Player Version#: 8.11.0.22186 (a1b8a7fb) (Firestick 4k)
Tuner Make/Model: Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200
Guide/Lineup name: Any and All
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: Any and All

I’m having a problem recording things on Live TV with my Firestick 4k. Specifically, I can’t set a custom recording location. I have created two new libraries with their own paths on the drive. One is called “Recorded TV” and the other is called “Recorded Movies”. I’ve also split up my regular media libraries to things like “4k Movies” and “HD Movies” for movies, and “TV Shows”, “Cartoons”, and “Documentaries” for TV. Whenever I’m browsing my TV Guide and find something I’d like to record, TV shows default to the 'Cartoons" folder, whereas Movies want to record to “4k Movies”. The first thing I tried to do on my own to troubleshoot this was to rename and recreate the recording folders to have a “1-” name, so the “one” would make it be first alphanumerically. That made no difference. I don’t really know what else to try. It’s really annoying not being able to control where recordings are stored.

Something else I’ve noticed, I only have this problem when in the “10-foot experience” on the Firestick. If I use the webclient on the server app, it works exactly like it should. I’ll click on a show or movies to record, and I can tell it which library to put it in. On the Firestick, I can see the options but when I select the one I want it just goes back to the original option.

Has nobody seen this issue one their own systems? It’s still very annoying not being able to select a recording location. I’m very willing to troubleshoot if anybody has any suggestions for me to try. Please respond! Thanks!

Just got a new tuner for my server and finally trying recording and I have the same issue. Works fine in the iOS app and the web app, but when I try it from either of the Firestick 4k devices in the house, I get my normal TV library and my DVR library but I can’t pick the DVR. App version 8.11.0.22186 Server Version 1.21.2.3943 (windows)

EDIT: forgot to add my tuner Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD PCI Express TV Tuner Card 1609

Now, you guys get to wait for the fix to see if it comes out of beta, then you get to wait to see if it works, then you get to wait for it to trickle down to FireTV.

You can side load that on to the Fire TV, I think, with the apk and the downloader app for the FireTV. Still, good news to hear for sure. I have my work arounds and that’ll get me going for now. Thanks for sharing that news!

I just saw the notice post right before I saw this thread, so thought it might be of interest.

My FireTV is (un)happy waiting (along with it’s owner) - along with everything else it’s waiting for it’s basically useless - and that teeny bit won’t fix what I’m waiting for.

Has anybody gotten this update? I’m on beta, but I’m still seeing 8.12 not 8.13.

Just installed that beta (via the method in my previous post) and can confirm it fixed my issue. Here’s a bit.ly link (https://bit.ly/3pKliCA) to the download (plex pass required) for the Fire TV family for anyone that wants to play with it now. Sorry your FireTV is giving you grief, but I’m very thankful you shared that info!

Then ya’ll will probably want to ‘Watch’/‘Bookmark’ that thread above in the thread tracking area right below this post (in the linked thread above). Set it right and it’ll be hard to miss any new announcements/posts to it. <— and they always contain the links to the apks within.

Hey! I’m just glad somebody else is having the problem and it’s being fixed! I don’t know anything about sideloading, so I’ll just wait for it to become official. Thanks for the heads up, and thanks everybody else for confirming this was a known issue!

@hansolo77 I was hoping you checked back in! You did the original leg work and I just bumped with a “me too”. @JuiceWSA nailed it with the beta info.
