I don’t see an option to record shows on my Fire TV app. Is this not supported or am I not seeing it?
I have the option to do so on My FireTV 4K stick. Perhaps the issue is the version of the Plex application you are running on your FireTV,…?
Can you verify what version of the Plex app is running on your FireTV and what version of the Plex Media Server your running on your Computer, Server or NAS,…?

I have this issue as well on all of my FireTV 4K sticks. Here is the issue: the FireTV app will record…but recording MUST be setup ahead of time from the schedule/EPG guide data. There is no record button when watching live and there doesn’t appear to be a way to start a recording after the show has started as it does not prompt you to record or watch live when you select a currently running program from the EPG. Instead it just goes to liveTV (which has no record button!!!)
Note: the LiveTV buffer works fine so this use case is pretty specific: User is watching LiveTV and wants to record the show they are watching. There is currently no way to do that on the FireTV app.
2nd Note: My Roku HAS this feature and it works fine so it is definitely an issue with the FireTV 4K app. On the EPG, the Roku will prompt the user to record or play when they select a currently running program. It also has a record button when watching LiveTV. All works flawlessly on Roku

I’m not even seeing the record option from the EPG. I pressed the button with the three lines to the right of the home button when on a program in the EPG but it just beeps at me and no options show up.
Which button do you use or how are you bringing up the record option on the EPG?
Its not on the epg. When you click on a future show, it brings up a page for the show and that page has a record or watch channel option.

This does seem like an oversight that is certainly going to be an issue for those on Amazon FireTV hardware sooner or later.
Until this is addressed by the dev team maybe there is a work around that could be used temporarily.
During a Live TV show that you want to record. Perhaps try doing a search for the Live TV show and see if the record option then becomes an option after selecting the show from the search results.
I hope it is fixed soon. Is there a way to submit it as a bug or for fixing?
That is not the app version. Current app version on the Fire TV devices is 7.26.0.
Only way I can see to record a show that’s live is by going to the Recommended tab at the top of the Live TV & DVR screen and finding the show you want to record (unfortunately by using that horrendous Tile scroll thingy which doesn’t even show the channel). This let’s you go into the landing page for that show and you can record here. Would be a hell of lot easier if you could do this from the guide though. The lack of this feature (any many others) is definitely a huge oversight by the devs.
The whole Live TV & DVR functionality on the FTV Stick was poorly put together and lacks quite of a bit of common sense features. Hopefully these get addressed soon.
