Idk what has happened to plex since my last setup but my god this has become so so much more difficult to setup than I remember.
I made a new unraid server and Im trying to setup plex on it. Ive followed a plethora of guides and examples but I seem to be getting stuck at the end and idk why. Ive installed the docker application and set my config, transcode, and media locations. Ive tried running through the setup with a plex key and without and it seems to make no difference but I wanted to mention Ive tried both.
Since Im using unraid, I got putty installed and set up a tunnel to my server so I can go into the local console. Once there, I was able to set my libraries and folders.
After figuring all that out, Im getting stuck on claiming the server. I go into settings and click claim server as this server is unclaimed.
I sign into my plex account and nothing happens.
If I click on claim server a few times back to back and sign in again and again each time, eventually it will start a spinning circle. After about a minute, it will say there was an error logging into Plex.
HOWEVER, when this happens, my plex account DOES sign in despite the error. If I click on anything or navigate anywhere, I get the “this sever is not authorized” message.
From there I have to gut my preferences.xml file to try again because if I just sign out without editing the xml, I get redirected to the signin page on my loclhost.
IDK what to do now and I really hope someone has an idea on here on what I need to do to fix this.
I cant get you guys logs from the gui because as soon as this happens, that log download button gets locked behind a not authorized page.
Ive tried with and without a plex claim code. The only difference is that with the claim code, when I go to localhost:8888, I get redirected to the sign in page immediately which will circle back to this server is not authorized again.
I assume the plex server can get to the web as it does sign my plex account into the server
This setup process has been beyond frustrating and Im not sure why plex made this so complicated. Ive setup 2 severs in the past with no issues so if anyone has any ideas, please please help me out…
