Hello Tom / Otto
I have been struggling for months on my own, unable to claim the Qnap server after one of the upgrades. I remember setting it up was not easy initially, but I figured out and had it running for a few years. Are you able to support if I provide the log files? I understand there is a fee ?
There’s no „fee“ but there’s also no personal support.
Claiming your server should be fairly straightforward, following one of the two common approaches:
- Access your server locally from within the same local network/subnet, using the QNAP‘s local IP address (http://[QNAP IP]:32400/web), then sign it into your account via
Settings>[Server Name]>General - Use a script to help claim the server, e.g. ChuckPa’s GitHub - ChuckPa/UserCredentialReset: User Credential Reset utility for Plex
Thank you so much for responding. Unfortunately I might have missed something. and got: this : ERROR: Could not get credentials from plex.tv (Error: 7)
Any clue to what Error 7 is?
The error code seems to come from the script attempting to connect to plex.tv — it should mean the script cannot connect to that host.
Could be some firewall blocking the communication or a bad DNS
Can we start with a copy of your server logs?
Thank you so much for responding. Please see attached file:
Oct 23, 2024 17:44:29.377 [140467107715896] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#8c] HTTP error requesting GET https://plex.tv/api/v2/release_channels?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxt to server) (Failed to connect to plex.tv port 443 after 0 ms: Couldn't connect to server)
You have some kind of network issue. Can you Check your DNS and firewalls?
Also check your network settings for 3 eth1 both gateway, and netmask
