lost connection to my server and can’t figure out how to get it back online

DataVol1 (CACHEDEV1) doesn’t see Plex installed.
It’s as if the scripts are there (.qpkg) but the actual program files are missing.

Without uninstalling, ReInstall (Manual Install) the qpkg file again (on top of existing)

just an fyi, i’ve already tried uninstalling and re-installiing and that caused me to lose access altogether. when i try to open the plex app, it opens a new tab but never loads anything

the same thing is happening with my QNap and PMS for the last 3 days it keeps offering for me to redownload the server but when i do it give no options to add my media and make my folders again just says i should download a server…let me know if your able to find a fix thanks ive tried everything

They seem to respond a lot quicker than they did in the past here in the forums. So stay tuned, I suppose lol.

DANGER:

  1. Uninstall on QNAP ---- DELETES THE SERVER

  2. You must go to plex.tv and REMOVE the old server
    https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

  3. Now install the QPKG again

  4. Open a PRIVATE browser window

  5. Open http://LAN.IP.of.QNAP:32400/web

  6. Now Claim and start setup of a NEW server instance.

This happens because of how QNAP wants package’s data stored.

All packages follow the general structure:

  /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Package_Name

Plex must live within that constraint and therefore uses:

  /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server

( All server internal files & metadata are stored below ‘Plex Media Server’)

INFO

  1. Never “uninstall” unless you want to start over on the qnap
  2. Always Manual Install ON-TOP-OF the existing version (up & down grade)

Random disconnects

These are a LAN network problem.

  • Check configuration in Control panel - Network & Virtual Switch
  • Wiring. (never use WiFi for a PMS server’s connection to the internet)

sorry for the delayed respnse, I had to fix a connection issue I had with my nas. now plex connects most times at home, but it’s inconsistent when i’m away.
