Unable to connect to securely

Player Version#: Version 10.7.0.5386

I’ve been running a server on my NVIDIA shield for the past couple years that stopped working this evening after restarting the Shield.

I tried a number of solutions but I’m abit of a novice when it comes to computers and rely on trying to follow advice on Reddit but I’ve hit a brick wall.

I deleted the Plex app and Media server on The Shield and reinstalled. I set up the new server which will work on my local network but when I go to access it through app.plex.tv I get Unable to connect to “SHIELD 2024” securely. I’ve tried to access my files when not on the local network by attempting connecting on my phone via 5g but it’s not connecting to the server. It’s kinda important to me because I’ll be bored out of my brain in work if I can’t watch my media :frowning:

Someone on Reddit suggested it could be a SSL certificate issue and apparently you can reset them so that brings me here with a request for this to see if that would help as I’ve run out of ideas. I love Plex and was delighted when a mere novice like myself could set up a server on the Shield so I’m really disappointed the wheels have come off. Please help me get them back on the road again!

Are you still having issue? Your cert is fine as far as I can tell. It was updated today.

Thanks for your reply. I checked it again to see if it was working but no it still wouldn’t connect. So I did abit more research and found a post on Reddit suggesting to toggle the preferred connection settings to required and back to preferred again

So I went about looking for this setting but couldn’t find it anywhere as I was blocked from accessing it through plex.tv and it isn’t available in the android app. Then I discovered it could be accessed if I logged into the windows Plex app but unfortunately I don’t have any windows devices. So I borrowed a friends laptop and was able to get into the setting and hey presto it worked, I could connect again to the server.

Just explaining all that incase anyone else is stuck in the same predicament using solely android.

Just a question for you BigWheel, is this something that just can’t be done using only android or did I miss something?

that isn’t an app setting, it is a server setting and server settings can only be accessed via the web app such as app.plex.tv or the desktop app that shares the same interface.
