If i uninstall all plex updates in android, does it still keep my personall settings (libraries, watched satus, user ratings, custom info data, etc…)?
If so, maybe that is worth a shot?
Anyway, I’ll retry to change the settings when I can access the network locally and repost my findings then.

I’ve got exactly the same issue here. My connection setting is set to Preferred and has never been changed. Started having this issue sometime in the last two weeks.
I have the same problem. It lost my server completely. I uninstalled the server’s uodates on the shield to see if it would fix it… It did temporarily… next day. Gone again. I started all over and made a new server. Worked. Next day it disappeared. Now it won’t connect to anything. Driving me nuts that it kills my Plex everytime there is an update… sure the sound is working better with bluetooth and the phone remote app isn’t disconnecting all the time… but what is the point in that if I have nothing to watch??
Same exact issue is prevalent on my Shield when acting as a media server. Tried all of the above suggestions and more. Can’t keep the connection. The Shield is only a month old, with nothing else installed other than Plex. Seems to work great as a client, but as a server it is completely and entirely unreliable both in and out of network.
Sorry for the late reply but i had some unexpected health problems (which are ok now) …
I haven’t changed anything to the shield, but after updating it to the latest version the issue was fixed.
+1 had the same problem for the last couple of weeks and now the server is unavailable, thinking of giving up using the shield as pms
