Server Version#: 1.25.4.5468-989df2310
DSM 7.0.1-42218
I needed to upgrade the HDD’s in the Synology NAS. While doing so I reset the NAS and and did a fresh install of the DSM. I had no issues getting everything back the way it was with 1 exception. I wasn’t able to created a new server on the NAS through the Plex web portal. I tried reinstalling using the server token method but it didn’t work. I deleted the old server that was on the NAS from my account hoping I could just create a new one but it doesn’t give me the option to create a server anywhere.
I’ve searched through a lot of the articles and help topics in the forums and haven’t found anyone with my particular issue. I tried things that worked for other people with similar issues but no luck. Everything was working as a media server with these same versions before the upgrade. If anyone has some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated. I’m lost here.
In DSM Package Manager, does it show PMS is installed and running?
If so, can you login to PMS?
Do not click the “Open” button in DSM Package Manager or use app.plex.tv.
Point your browser directly at the server: http://syno_ip_address:32400/web ← use the real IP address of your Synology. Available in DSM Control Panel → Info Center → Network.
What do you see?
If you are still unable to login to Plex Media Server, then:
a) Stop PMS in Synology Package Manager
b) With File Station, go to /PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server.
c) Right click on Logs and compress to Logs.zip
d) Download Logs.zip and attach to the thread.
I’m not sure why but it worked when I logged into Plex using the IP address. I have tried that more than a few times. My browser already had that URL in its history. I don’t know what was different but I don’t want to question it cause it’s working!
