I don’t use it often, but I was always was able to download my server content for offline use to my phone and laptop, a month ago I realized I wasn’t able, so I bought plex pass, thinking they had changed the settings and that this would make it possible for all my devices.
I made it possible on the 1 laptop I made the purchase on, but not on my other laptop, even though it’s the same account!!
and so it shows plex pass on both (and btw even if I wanted to, I would not be able to buy plex pass again on the other device, since it says it has it already), but downloading only works on 1
whats the recommended troubleshooting? I’ve tried logging out and in, and waiting a few days, and both app and web version (macbook).
Your are not using your own server. So what you are trying to download must be on another user’s server. And to download from any other server than your own, you cannot use the regular Plex web app.
You will need to use either one of the Plex mobile apps, or Plex for Mac (its app icon is labeled only “Plex”).
Thanks Otto. that doesn’t explain though:
a) I have a plex account with paid plex pass.
b) I use this account on 2 macs.
c) On one of them I can download content to view locally later (both web and app) (from the server that is indeed separate)
d) and on the other I cannot (neither web nor app).
e) The macs and account usage is identical (same browser, same account, same physical room) and within plex, same account saying it’s paid plex pass.
f) The only difference i can think of is that i BOUGHT the plex pass on the one, and thats the one it works on…(I would consider BUYING it again on the other…but thats not possible, since it already HAS it…)
Thanks anyone who has had this and figured it out! or has legit troubleshooting ideas
