For some reason, pressing the escape key in Plex Media Player’s App Mode (I think that’s what it’s called, the mode that isn’t TV Mode), it doesn’t bring up the exit menu. This works fine in TV mode, but TV mode is terrible when using a mouse to navigate because the scroll wheel doesn’t work, and you can’t easily select different libraries that are in the same category (TV/Movies/Etc.).
This hasn’t functioned correctly since the App mode was added to PMP, so this may be a feature request or a bug report. Either way, please change the program so that the escape key brings up the exit menu in App mode.
The ESC key does not provide an exit option when using desktop mode. Desktop mode is like a regular web browser. Just click the X in the top right to close it.
Both modes function as a website, as evidenced by being able to right click in either mode and view the page source. I’m requesting that the functionality be added to Desktop mode because it seems like an oversight.
It’s not an oversight. The TV mode was meant for a TV where you are using it as an HTPC you have a remote or one of those basic remote keyboard thingy. The desktop mode was meant for a desktop where you have a mouse and can close it by hitting the X
If you wish for this topic to be moved the feature request area of forums would be happy to move it there.
That’d be great if you could move this topic to the feature request forum. It seems like a small UX addition and the ESC key isn’t used for anything else on the home screen of Desktop mode, so it shouldn’t conflict with other features or key mappings. As far as clicking the X goes, I run the app in full screen mode, which doesn’t have that option. Shrinking to windowed mode doesn’t bring back the window UI on my setup (a consequence of high DPI fonts, I believe, as many other programs have a similar problem with displaying the UI). My only real option for closing out of desktop mode is Alt-F4, which I’ve been using.
