Unable to finish update of metadata for movies

Plex will match all TV Series perfectly.

Plex will NOT match movies.
Plex will find the movies and spin the orange circle forever.
Also manually choosing a poster will lead to the orange circle spin.
Plex will download a part of the metadata but not update the object properly.
E.g. the Movie Posters are not downloaded. Backgrounds are.

Server Version#: 1.18.9.2578 and 1.19.1.2630

Please supply example / directory list of your movie naming and organization for a movie that does not match.

Make sure you follow Plex naming and organization requirements.

Please supply log files. Make sure Plex Media Server is configured for debug, not verbose logs.

Movie Name: The.Matrix.1999.mp4

Match / Fix Match

The orange Circle will run several minutes.

It will then stop but will not show a poster.
I also cannot change the poster:
I choose edit, choose another poster, click on save, the orange circle will run.
Poster will not change.

This only affects Movies, not TV Series. I never had any issues with both.

I have been working with Matching and Fixing Matches for many years (User since 2013). I have changed the filename and folder: SAME EFFECT.

2020-04-07 11_29_57-Window

There is a an error to look at. An error that is reoccurring many times during the years and has been also fixed many times in new PMS releases.

And as said. I cannot even change the Poster. This has nothing to do with filenames.
Also an orange circle running for minutes is very new to me.

I do not complain about automatic matching, I cannot manually match or edit movies.

I’m having the same issue.

Please do the following

  1. with server full quiescent and maintaining idle
  2. Scan files for the movies section
  3. Refresh all metadata
  4. Allow to complete
  5. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  6. Attach the ZIP file

Regarding File Naming - Not automatic matching - Manual matching …

I rebuild my library so often that manual matching would drive me insane.
I got “FileBot” and that was that. I renamed the files and automatic “just works”.
When performing a QA test on 932 TV series and 846 movie titles, correct names are a requirement. As it stands now, I can rebuild everything in a couple hours on this limited DSL line.

It’s not matching. The matching is fine. Is the “applying”. I can match manually or automatically. There is a match. Matching works. When I then hit “apply”, I get the orange circle and the matching will not apply to the object.

Renaming the object will not help to apply the metadata. The applying will give me the circle and then fails.

Additional details about your setup are required. Information only you can provide.

The person who QA tests the product, writes the installers for Linux & NAS platforms, and knows more about Plex on QNAP than anybody else is offering assistance.

As a first step, he asked for your log files.

If you want help, and not just to rant, it is probably a good idea to provide the files.

May I have the ZIP file DEBUG logs please?

I am seeing the same issue. Movie titles match sometimes, not dont most times.
Even if the titles match, the metadata doesnt get updated.
Here’s the logs
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-05-04_11-33-58.zip (6.3 MB)

I’m sorry but I’m not equipped to support Windows systems.

QNAP is Linux and I only know & have Linux systems.

please create a fresh thread, tag for server-windows and one of the Windows team will assist.

Do you have a Fritzbox and Cable? If yes, this is an known issue on 7.13

No I don’t have fritzbox and cable. Have an att router.

I am seeing the exact same behavior as you described, even aftermatching manually, the metadata doesn’t get set.

And this was working just a week ago.

I have this issue too. Migrated to a new QNAP NAS and did a clear rebuild due to corrupted dB file (not sure how long it had corrupted data). Same router, same Official Plex dockerized Plex Pass build in Container station. I used to use the native QNAP app prior to Docker and testing this today I have the same issues as I do with the Docker version.

TV shows all get metadata and posters fine. Movies Takes ages to get data and then it’s usually only partial metadata and less than 1% get a poster (out of 1400 movies) the file structure is the same as it has been for over ~3 years and prior to this rebuild, when I added a movie it would get the metadata Inc. poster etc just fine.

It seems like the issue is either the latest release of Plex or TMdb has changed their metadata as I see it download but it never gets applied. Also posters do disappear after being set and in the settings for these movies the poster entry has a thin blank image selected or sometimes it is totally empty.
