Unable to get remote access working save for couple brief times

Just installed Plex and trying to set it up for remote use, but I can’t get it to work. A couple times, it flashed green/working for a split second before changing to red, and a couple times it stayed green for a couple minutes before switching to red, but that’s it.

I use a VPN (Mullvad), but I can’t get it working regardless of whether that’s active or not. In fact, the couple times it seemed to be working were both (I’m pretty sure, though at least one was) with the VPN active.

My router is a Mikrotik, and I set up port forwarding, which I’m fairly certain it’s set up properly, and if it weren’t, I would expect it wouldn’t work at all. And that shouldn’t matter when using the VPN, since the traffic is being tunneled through the router. Unless maybe that’s why it sometimes works, then something with the VPN causes it to disconnect, and it’s not working without the VPN because the router isn’t configured properly.

Not a double-NAT issue and, AFAICT, not a jumbo frame issue, either. Disabling Windows firewall also doesn’t help.

I seem to be having the same issue. Win7 here, Vizio E50C, wired connection, Mullvad VPN.

I used iperf3 to monitor my forward port and looks like it is hitting it but not able to connect right. I made a quick video to show that PMS thinks it has access for a split second (message turns green) and then fails again… you can also see the port gets hit in the video.
