Running High Sierra on a 2011 Macbook Pro trying to install Plex Media Server 1.19.4.2902-69560ce1e
After rebuilding the Macbook with a fresh install of the OS, all installs went smoothly, but the Plex install keeps stalling half way. Did a complete uninstall and repeated. After unzipping the dmg mounts I then get a pop up saying “Move to Applications folder?” After clicking yes, I try to run it, but no response whatsoever. I see that this is a version that was released on June 2. Any idea what is going on?
there is no dmg file on the Mac download for server. After the zip file expands Take the Plex Media Server.app file and move it to the Applications yourself by dragging and dropping it there
My mistake, with dmg, I just meant the install file, or whatever you call it. After the zip file has expanded, I drag the media server app file into Applications. (I’ve also tried to let the installer do it, as offered by the pop up) After clicking on the app in the app folder, I get a “verifying Plex media server”, with a status bar, and then finally Apple’s warning that the app is downloaded from the internet, and am I sure I want to open it? I click open, and then nothing, no response at all…It is supposed to open as a tab in my browser, right? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, no change.
Saw this post, sounds very similar. RE: New Plex install won't launch, Followed the uninstall instructions in the post, but no change, still not launching
Unfortunately, I had to downgrade back to High Sierra. I’m back to square one. So after installing, when trying to launch from the applications folder, nothing happens, like before
Manually download the installer, expand and drag that Plex app icon to the applications folder. A Warning box will appear, Replace, Keep both, Cancel. Replace the app folder. You may have to add permission via the Security & Privacy Panel, when opening. Allow Apps downloaded/Open
