Hi. I could really use some help. I had PMS on my Synology 918+. I had an issue with the latest update and ended up thinking that I could uninstall it, delete the files in the volume, reinstall and all would be fine. I reinstalled PMS on my NAS and it shows no sign of my server. When I open the PMS app on my NAS, I see nothing about my server. When I log into plex.tv, I also see no sign of my server. New or old. What am I doing wrong on this? Sorry I am a newb when it comes to this. Was working great and had one hiccup during updates. Now I am dead in the water.
I used the token to reclaim my old server. I can now see it on the website. But it says it is unable to connect securely. Any ideas on that? That’s the original issue I had. All of my media is safe as it was in another folder structure. But I cannot get Plex to work at all due to this unable to connect securely issue. I’ve searched around and cannot see where the issue is.
What’s the LAN IP of your server and of your computer?
Are you attempting to use the QuickConnect link from Package Center or are you using http://IP.address.of.Syno:32400/web
?
Thanks Chuck. I did both. I just tried the ip address directly. It doesn’t connect. And I cannot get the app to even open in package center. I get a message that says, “Sorry this package cannot be accessed when connected via QuickConnect.” when I try to open the app.
Would you please
- Stop Plex
- Using FileStation -
- Open PlexMediaServer / AppData / Plex Media Server
- Right-click “Logs” → “Compress to Logs.zip”
- When that finishes, download it
- Attach the zip here.
Logs.zip (271.3 KB)
What’s the IP address you’re accessing it from and how are you attempting to access the Syno at 192.168.1.144 ?
Are you using a FQDN ?
Yes, that is the static IP I gave my Synology
What URL are you using? IP or a Name?
It looks like you’re using an internet IP ?
I am connecting to my synology with quick connect. Trying to open the app there.
Don’t use Quick Connect.
Are you local to the machine or is it remote ?
Local. Its on my network
Is your computer at 107.115.XXX.XXX ?
Thanks Chuck. That might be part of the problem. Using a MAC. Just realized I was using their masking within Safari. That is not the IP address my router says
make sure you’re SENDING from the same subnet. It should be fine
I’ve always used quick connect. Is there a direct URL to the Synology do you know?
I tried to connect via it’s IP address. Cannot access.
DSM 7 change ALL the rules.
Since you and it are on the same LAN –
AND I hope your MAC isn’t masking your IP with something random.
Turn QuickConnect OFF for a few minutes.
If you’re clicking the link in package center and it’s showing “Quickconnect.to” - that’s the problem. I do have an update for the Plex Claim Token feature of the installer. It’ll be published in 1.25.6. That change will address these problems and make it so it does work in these edge cases.
okay, was able to connect now. Turned off quick connect and that mac masking.
Oh buddy, I think I might have this Chuck!! I am seeing my server again…stand by…
Get through the Got It
part… That’s the most important.
Once it completes and is fully claimed (you at the dashboard), All will be good again and you will be able to use Quick Connect and your Mac masking.
