I’ve done all the delete the app, share, user, shutdown, reinstall, enable, several times to no avail. Tried disabling UPNP, with (and without) port forward from NAS to Router, which failed as well. Again, 32400 is open on the router and verified with an app.
On another note, there is a problem, and don’t know if it is related, that my NAS does not show up on the DHCP Network Client list, but does show up as connected/wired under Traffic Control. This issue is listed on a 2018 post on Synology Community, but doesn’t list resolution. I can access NAS externally.
Can you establish the remote access (or access to your server in general) without using the synology.me link?
You don’t need it and it appears to be known for causing unnecessary issues.
“That’s the ticket”, but there is also more to it.
I disabled DDNS, and tried to connect by manual entry of the LAN & WAN side URL addresses. Still got the same no-go window. I found that the default link address in Package Center’s Plex panel was still the *.synology.me:32400 until I went through the uninstall process again. So went through the entire delete process again: uninstall Plex, delete the Plex share, delete the user, restart, manually installed the package (without the run checkbox selected at completion of the install). Then enabled the share and users, and then started Plex. Following reinstallation, the URL was now my NAS LAN address:32400, and got connected.
From a testing side, I wanted to find out if after Plex getting the correct URL link in its’ Package Center window, if I could re-enable DDNS. I tried it, and it failed again. As soon as I re-started Plex, the URL link changed to the *.synology.me:32400, I was back to the “can’t open the page” screen.
Is there a way to change that link without going through the reinstallation process? Where is Plex assigned that URL from?
Just try to ignore it for now.
Can you open http://[IP address of your Synology NAS]:32400/web locally in a browser of your choice?
Once you have that working… we’ll get to look at your router configuration.
Personally I prefer using a manual port forward – however… UPnP should also work ok if supported by your router.
ok… next step then:
Can you confirm the manual port forward on your router is working and you can access the router at that port from outside your home network (e.g. using canyouseeme.org)?
And just for completeness… did you verify your Remote Access settings in Plex match that configuration (Manually specify public port is checked and the port matches the public port defined in your port forwarding rule)?
I take it then, that the internal IP is set to the IP you’ve reserved for the Synology NAS within your home network (not the synology.me URL) and the port 32400. Are you then also able to connect to your PMS from a Plex client outside your network? (e.g. disabling WIFI on your phone and either connecting via http://app.plex.tv/desktop or the native Plex client on that phone)?
