Unable to make PIN for user connected to my admit account

I have a second account connected to my admin account that I use when I go to my friend’s house, and I’d like to put a password on it. I looked at the instructions from the Plex website, but I still cannot add a PIN to my second account (the instructions told me to go to the settings, then general, then when I hover over the user account, it should supposedly allow me to add a PIN). When I do so, there is no option to add a PIN.

I have tried this via mobile as well as my laptop.

Is there any other way of adding a PIN other than this method?

Passwords and PINs are separate items.

Also, the Plex documentation seems to be out of date with respect to setting a PIN.

Only accounts in a Plex Home can be assigned a PIN.

Go to Settings → Plex Home to configure PIN codes for accounts in your Plex Home.

Regular accounts, those with a plex.tv login, have passwords and can have two factor authentication. Both are configured in Account Settings.

and a plex account can only be a member of one Plex Home. If your second Plex user account is currently within your own Plex Home, it cannot join the Plex Home of your friend.

The only solution for quick user switching to become available for the both of you, is if you are joining the same Plex Home.
However, there can only be one Administrator within a Plex Home. So one of you has to give up the privileges.

As you can see this is quite messy. It is one of the reasons why it is only recommended for people who live under the same roof to join the same Plex Home.

I was able to figure out how to solve the issue, although the answer was that I had to login to the actual account (that must have been part of Plex Home) in order to set the PIN. I figured I could have done it via my primary account, but that didn’t work. I’m not sure if there was also an update to your software/Plex Player, but it has been solved! Thanks for all of your help.

Side question: what does the little orange crown mean on one of my two accounts? I assume it means that is the primary account.

It means that it is the admin of the Plex Home. Normally, if you make two accounts each is an admin of their own Home, so each would have a crown. But if one account “joins” the home of the other, then the joinee loses admin power, and only the other account is admin of the joint Home.

The crown is the person who is the Admin of the Plex Home. (which to be clear is not the same thing as the admin of a server)
