Try correcting your file names. The file names shown above do not follow the Plex naming guidelines, see the link in my signature for more information about file naming in Plex. When you have corrected your file names, try updating the library, although I suspect you may need to ‘refresh all’ for your library.
It may also be necessary to do the Plex Dance below:
- remove file/s from media folder/s
- Update Library
- Optimise Database
- Clean Bundles
- Empty Trash
Wait for each of the above tasks to complete before moving on to the next step.
Then return your file/s to your media folders.
I also recommend using FileBot to automatically rename your files for you.

https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/191687/plex-naming-schemes-for-filebotOk, thanks!! I will give this ago over the weekend, although I do not understand why suddenly they do not match and coincide with the Plex naming guidelines as all my movies previous are named pretty much just the same way and they matched and I have (approaching) 600 movies now.
Thank you and I will update my findings over the weekend.
Its one of the perceived mysteries with Plex. If 599 INCORRECTLY named movies are identified and the 600th isn’t its because all 600 are named incorrectly and you got lucky in the past.
Absolute +1 for Filebot to rename all your movies is about 2 minutes work after installing.
Hope you get it sorted.
Hi guys,
I’m still having the exact same issues even after renaming with FileBot. It still does not match. Half the time it finds no match and half the time it finds a match but does not download any metadata, even though it says it is downloading metadata.
Any more suggestions? Is there a way to reset/reinstall Plex without loosing all previous film and TV library data? It seems there may be something wrong with the Plex install its-self, maybe something is corrupt?
Thank you,
Rick
