Unable to play 4K from Synology DS918+/FireTV : no issue with third party player

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: latest

I have a Synology DS918+, (Client Plex on FireTV and AppleTV)

I have a lot of difficulty playing 4K movie with Plex,
And no issue at all with VLC or DSVideo.

I originally though about network issues but running an iperf the worst I get is 50 Mbit/s and the average is 506 Mbit/s.

Tried to “play original quality” and also try to get down to 20mb/s, 10mb/s quality, nothing happen, just won’t play (no error message but I’m stuck on the first frame)

At this stage I might just migrate back everything on DSVideo but am a bit annoyed still.

For information the server was installed from the Synology Package Center, I never tried the docker version which I assume would get worst performance.

For information the FireTV is connected via WiFi, the link speed is : 650Mpbs

Any idea ?

Which specific model of FireTV and version of the Plex client?

Which specific model of the Apple TV and version of the Plex client?

Do not select any bandwidth other than Original/Maximum. Choosing a lower bandwidth will force the video to transcode and playback will fail. The Celeron CPU in the DS918+ is not powerful enough to transcode 4K media.

Disable subtitles during playback. Enabling subtitles can result in transcoding video, and playback will fail.

Select an AC-3 or AAC audio stream if possible. Avoid DTS, DTS-HD, or TrueHD audio streams, as these may force an audio transcode on some FireTV & AppleTV devices.

During playback, login to Plex Web, and check Status -> Now Playing (may be listed as Status -> Dashboard -> Now Playing).

What is the status during playback with the FireTV?

What is the status during playback with the AppleTV?
