Hello,
I have seasons of That 70’s Show and the most of the seasons are working fine but soms of the series are constantly buffering.
While this is going on, the CPU usages of the NAS is 100%.
I tried different transcode settings and i use a QNAP TS-433 and has no support for hardware accelaration.
Could it be a Plex software issue that most of the season works and a few series not?
Info:
1920X1080 MKV
1509KBPS
23.98 Frames/seconde
2.18GB
Can someone take a look at this or see the error in some kind of log files?
Regards,
Marcel Valk
Use the Plex media info to get more info about your files, in order to be able to spot differences between playing and buffering files.
Most important are: type of video codec, type of audio codec, number of audio channels, type of subtitles (if enabled for playback)
Use the Dashboard in the Plex web app to monitor your server during the playback process. Enable the “Details” view to see whether video, audio, or subtiles are transcoded.

I have a 1gbps or higher connection and CAT6 cables.
The Dashboard says that it tries to “burn” the subtitles into the video picture. That means transcoding of the picture is attempted. Which most probably fails because your server doesn’t have neither a fast-enough CPU nor hardware support for video transcoding.
If the affected video does play if you set the subtitle to None before starting playback, you know the source of the issue.
Enter the settings of your Shield Plex client and set Subtitle Burning to “Only extended formats”.
That way SRT-format subtitles should never get burned in.
I disabled subs and now it works perfect.
Thanks for the help.
