Just bought a new TCL Google TV (to upgrade from my previous TCL Roku TV), but I am unable to play many of my TV shows and movies on the new TV. I have my old Roku TV and my old Chromecast with Google TV, both of which are able to play all the files. I’ve made sure that all the settings in the new app are the same as the old one, but the problem persists. I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what is going on!

Hopefully someone can come in here and actually help with why this would happen with your TV. The easy solution to this in my eyes is to just use your Chromecast as its actually a surprisingly good little Plex client. You’ll probably come to the same conclusion that many of us have that “smart TVs” aren’t all that smart and often times their capabilities are very limited even if they try to convince that they aren’t. This is why even though my very expensive Sony X900H 85" has Android TV and would try to convince you its a good “smart TV” I still use an Nvidia Shield on it to alleviate the issues that come along with crappy “smart” features.
I just picked up a TCL Google TV(43S446) and I’ve found that I can watch 480p movies files(2hr) or <30 min 1080p but when I try to watch a movie it won’t start playback.

I’m happy they added a basic TV Mode to go back to my Chromecast with Google TV but I’d prefer to use the TV and put it on another old TV.
What can I do to help troubleshoot?
