The “Resume Playback” dialogue/prompt flashes then disappears
I am returned to the previous screen
No video plays
Further:
If I use the pointer (mouse/track pad), the “Resume Playback” dialogue/prompt appears as expected and I am able to play the video from either the resume point or the beginning
The hosted Plex Web (1.79.0) behaves in the same manner as the local Plex Web (1.69.1)
Server Version#: 1.14.0.5470-9d51fdfaa
Player Version#: 3.69.1
Player Version (Hosted)#: 3.79.0
I run into this a lot. I have never been able to prevent it, but every touch device I have, has been able to tap and hold for a moment then release and the resume or start from beginning options would come up.
@TerraEnvy
Thanks for the response.
What type of touchscreen devices do you have?
I am using a PC, more specifically, a laptop, and a held tap brings up the right click menu! … or am I missing something?
I have had this on a samsung galax s7, note8, Nvidia Shield and a touch AIO PC.
However, I didn’t think about that right click issue since My touch pc is on an environment that disables standard right click.
Sorry, Don’t think my working solution applies then. Good luck
There is no typical response time from Plex. Sometimes they comment in a thread, often times not. FWIW, I have this issue come up too. I have an Asus Zenbook Flip 14 running Windows 10 and this happens to me once every 4-5 attempts to play something. Like TerraEnvy said, I can get it to play with a touch & hold on the poster thumbnail (not the play button in the upper navigation bar). When I touch & hold the poster, the resume option appears and tapping resume will fire up the video.
@Plan-B Thank you for the response and extra info.
A touch & hold will only present me a contextual right click menu (in this case, my browser, Firefox).
Have you, like @TerraEnvy, altered your environment with respect to the right click menu ?
Ah, I wonder if there’s a difference in Firefox then. I’m using Chrome. I haven’t done anything to modify the right-click contextual menu. I will say, however, that I also get the right-click menu, but the option to resume or play from beginning also comes up. I bought the laptop just a couple weeks ago, so it’s pretty close to how Asus shipped it… other than installing a few new apps. See what happens if you try in Chrome or Edge. Based on reviews I’ve seen, these two browsers are better for battery life so if you’re on a laptop, you might want to use one of these as a default anyway.
