The issue is this. Sometimes the same show is airing on two different channels at the same exact time. Plex will not allow me to record them both, even though they are on completely different channels. The reason that I may want to do this sometimes, is there may be a signal issue on one of the channels or the recording may fail on one of those channels. Having Plex record them both would help in case one failed for whatever reason.
Here is a specific example.
This week on Monday Night Football, the Dallas Cowboys are playing the New York Giants. In NY, this game will air on the local ABC channel (FIOS HD Channel 507). The game is also airing on EPSNHD (FIOS HD Channel 570).
No matter what I do, Plex will not allow me to schedule to record this game on both of these channels. If I go into advanced and set Limit to Channel to one or the other, it changes the setting but will still not allow me to add it again from the other channel.
Once it is scheduled to record on either one of the two channels, it shows up as set to record on both channels, even though it will only record on one of these two channels. Obviously, setting the Limit to Channel to one of them will force Plex to record from that channel, but at this point, I still cannot schedule it to record on the other channel.
This does not make any sense. Why can’t you record the same program on two different channels at the same time?
