Thanks very much Plex for finally implementing the grid view for live TV! The wait has finally paid off and it is fantastic!
Sure, its early stages however here in Australia the occasional show is not recognized and is displayed as ‘Unknown Airing’. The problem with this is, it is not possible to record this show at all. I have to record the show before it and extend the ‘Minutes after end’ time to cover the show I wish to record. Obviously this isn’t the nicest way of doing things.
Is there a way to fix this or is it yet to be implemented.
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards
Mike
1. SBS has ‘Unknown Airing’ and does not give you the option to record the 'Unknown Airing’
I have the same problem on v1.13.5.5291 (beta) but it’s missing epg data from HDHomerun with “unknown airing”. I checked the Homerun EPG API and the shows are there during the “unknown airing” times.
I have the same problem, some months ago everying started showing unknowing airing in live View.
Did not have time to look at it, But this weeken i updated Everything and there are no change.
Testet with an hd homerun dvr, synology server and Mac server both have the same problem.
I’m in Denmark on Yousee cable
its actually the same program, las minute change from the network, as you can see, cant record on ANY of the channels! its on.. its all the same program… id say its a bug in plex that cannot handle last minute updates…
Just experiencing this now also in Australia. Needs to be a DVR workaround where people can instruct manual recording and not just by program/series/movie but also time and channel. Basis 101 functionality that Tivo had 15yrs ago
I have a similar issue with recordings. The EPG during the day appears to be fine for the evening recordings. During the evening some of the EPG changes to unknown Airing and the recordings scheduled fail to record. This was working a couple of weeks ago. I have now rebuilt the DVR. worked for a day and then started to fail again. After the last update. same. worked for a day and then recordings started to fail again. other than a complete re-install of plex. is there anything else I can try to fix this ?
I have noticed the EPG all looks find until after 10pm, most shows suddenly come up with 'Unknown Airing’ for an hour and any program scheduled will fail to record.
Same problem here in NZ - am happy to add my support to the call for this to be addressed (in the meantime I just use the WinTV software bundled with the tuner dongle - second-best option though)
I have the same issue with a number of programs appearing as Unknown Airing. I am in Australia.
This only happens when I populate the guide using the inbuilt Gracenote Plex guide. With an Ice TV XML feed it is fine.
This is completely annoying as I can’t watch or record them unless I pay for an XML feed. I am paying for Plex already. It really needs fixing otherwise it is useless as a DVR.
Please fix this Plex or at least reply. There are heaps of people reporting the guide problem.
I’m having the same issue.
Similar/identical setup to most here.
From the logs it seems plex is using the guide data as way to do its transcoding somehow.
As I kept looking into it (in last 24 hours since connecting my HDHomeRun) It does seem (from logs & UIs ) that plex needs to handle the content in discrete blocks (i.e. episodes ).
So to the plex devs, if my assumption is correct and you need the data in order to manage/play the content, you could add a contingency/default in case of this Unknown Airing & set up a recurring 30 minute block of “fake” content under the name of <CHANNEL_NAME> (instead of the name of the episode/movie) . this should allow for organisation (date & time) & the na ‘channel name’ would allow for grouping.
If I “read” the feelings of the users correctly, people would rather have something(contrent) that is “nameless” if it means they can watch it!
@tom80H if you are in touch with devs or have some way of validating if this is getting looked into could let us know? Thanks
(I mentioned you as i have seen you moderate around the forums.)
In the meantime, I have gone around this by using a channel listing that i would never watch but does not suffer from this issue and assigning it to the channel I actually want to watch.
so i.e.: History channel shows as Unknown Airing but Cartoon network does not, so I wnet to the DVR settings and set the metadata for the History channel to be picked using the Cartoon network one.
Yes this means that I have no “correct” show timings for the History channel but at least im able to play it!
