Unable to remote access Plex Server

Not able to remotely access my plex media server. Have been trying all of the troubleshooting options but keep on ending up with the same result; no remote access. In the local plex app, all media can be found. In the remote access settings the server connection shortly shows ‘accesible’, but shortly after says no remote access possible. However, trying to access via app.plex.tv, no libraries can be accessed.

Restarted the plex server multiple times, checked my router settings multiple times (are correct). Firewall settings look ok as well.

Have been able to remotely access my files in the past and did not make any changes. However, back then it did not seem stable either.

Thanks in advance.

Make certain you’ve selected “Manually specify port” and enter 32400 (which you are showing)

Next, confirm port 32400/TCP is open in the Synology firewall.

Lastly, make certain your modem/router has a manual port-forward setup for 32400/tcp → IP.addr.of.Syno:32400

It’ll be something simple when you find it.

I have the same issue

@Pich1

Check your selected port number and then confirm your external port (what you selected) is forward to 32400/tcp of the Syno and that 32400/tcp of the Syno firewall is open

I used wd pr4001. it always worked using upnp of the router. My config has not changed.

@Pich1

Please confirm ? PR4001 ??? Did you mean PR4100 ?

Check the modem/router

The PR4100 has no built-in firewall so the issue is most likely in the modem/router.

Log into it to confirm UPNP is enabled and that you see a UPNP-initiated port forwarding definition

Sometimes, the upnp table fills and needs to be cleared
While signed into the modem/router, check its WAN address and make certain you have public-routable IP address. (ISPs have been silently rolling out CGNAT / Private Network addresses which creates Double NAT (Plex won’t work with Double NAT)

Thanks for the help. For some reason, I completely forgot to check the synology firewall settings. I forgot that the order of the rules in the Synology Firewall was important; my rule was at the bottom resulting in a not working rule due to another ‘deny all’ rule just above it.
