Hey, been a long time since I’ve had to post anything cause Plex usually just works for me 
Anyhow, got a problem where Plex can’t seem to scrape the correct metadata for The Spy TV show. It’s probably something I’ve done but no matter how I save the top level directory in my library (‘The Spy’, The Spy (2019), The Spy 2019’) etc it keeps coming back with the wrong match. When I try to manually match there’s no link to the show.

it appears to be on the tvdb, so it should be working.
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-spy
/tv (or something similar should be the top level directory in your library)
if you are adding the folder directly to the library like
/The Spy (2019)
then it will not work.
/tv/The Spy (2019)/Season 01/The Spy (2019) - s01e01 - The Immigrant.mkv
should work.
Plex initially matched it to Spy (2011) for me. Fix Match -> Auto Match -> TheTVDB pulled in the correct info.
Naming:
/TV Shows/The Spy (2019)/Season 01/The Spy (2019) - s01e01.mkv
it pulled automagically for me, I didn’t have to do anything.
/data/media/TV/The Spy (2019)/Season 01/The Spy (2019) - s01e01 - The Immigrant - x264 EAC3.mkv
I’m having the same problem with The Spy.
For me the Auto Match only works, when I’m looking for the German entry on TVDB. When trying to look for the English metadata, Plex is somehow matching “The Spy (2019)” to “Spy (2011)” 
For now I guess I’ll live with the German metadata.
Naming is: /TVShows/The Spy (2019)/Season 01/The Spy - S01E01.mkv
do a fix match click search options and use the tvdb id number in the name field. seems tvdb does not have the year for some shows listed in the right place and might be causing search for some things to fail .
