Unable to see HD channels -18.04 Xbox One TV Tuner(s)

Server Version#: 18.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.15.0-65201910101111-generic x86_64)
Player Version#: 1.18.1.1973

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would open a new thread as I felt like I was highjacking @Eddy555 thread located here. As although I have a similar problem to Eddy I’m running a different version of Ubuntu.

I’ve followed the guidance from @NDInnovations using his mediatree patch kernel but I’m still unable to see HD channels when scanning. I’m using the Xbox One Tuners with the required dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw firmware loaded as noted here.

I was able to obtain all but HD channels before I applied Brad’s patched kernel as long as long as I used a kernel version later than 4.16 as outlined by David Hutchinson here. Although, I was unable to see HD channels.

In Eddy’s post he gave me the idea of testing with Kaffeine media player and I am able to see the HD channels, so I know the USB / driver is working, see screenshot below:

Although, I am still unable to view HD channels on scan in Plex either with a standard 4.16 (or higher) kernel or with a mediatree patched kernel (im currently using Brad’s 4.15.0-65201910101111-generic kernel) even though I can see them using Kaffeine.

I’m therefore hoping that someone might be able to help me to get these HD channels to work if not at least this post will serve as a record to others who are looking at the Xbox TV Tuner they will know it does work following the process outlined above but at this stage without HD channels.

Thanks

My T/T2 auto patch is specifically for the si2168 demod. The “xbox one” tuner uses chips I’m unfamiliar with and do not support. The linuxtv.org page seems to indicate problems with T2 signals. Most likely that driver needs some tlc.

Thanks @NDInnovations, I’ll keep trying and will report back if I get it working, although I doubt it!
