So I got Plex Server running and made different profiles for family members, which works great. Although the problem start that one family member can’t unlock the mobile features by paying the 1-time fee via the Plex App. When she tries to do so she gets the message that only the home administrator can subscribe for plex pass or activate the app.
She has a different Apple-ID but is logging in with the same plex account information… Does she need to create seperated Plex accounts or should the first method work as well?
The solution is that you perform a “Switch User” to your account (you as the Plex Home admin). Then you can unlock the app via the App store.
Once that is done, you switch back the user and hand over the phone to her.
We tried that, switching to my profile already lifts all the restrictions and she can playback any video. but once she than switches back to her profile she get the restriction message again.
Once she switches back and goes to ‘settings > upgrade’ the option to purchase the app isn’t there, only purchase plex pass and restore purchase
