Unable to Use Plex After Corrupt Database

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368-97add474d-x86
Player Version#: N/A

Hello, after a power outage earlier today I cam back home to notice my Plex server was no longer running. I keep getting “Plex media server was unable to open its media database” every time I try to start it.

I’ve tried uninstalling and manually cleaning out leftover files such as the folder in %localappdata%, but even after a reinstall I keep getting this same error whenever I try to start the server. I’ve tried installing to a different drive as well, still no luck.

After re-installing plex I no longer even have a plex folder in my local appdata, I only have the program files folder. No logs are created because the plex folder isn’t even created.

I’m on Windows 10 x64 using the latest windows media server build from 02/04/2020 (1.18.6.2368-97add474d)

After downloading the plex windows client, a folder in appdata was finally created in %localappdata%. This is the log from that folder, although it seems to be just client stuff, nothing about the server. So it’s probably not relevant. Just in case: https://pastebin.com/VHZPVfki

Do you have any database backups? https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

never mind I see you said you deleted the PMS folder in app data.

Do you have more than on user on that computer?

No other users. I probably should’ve left those in my recycle bin, but I cleared it without thinking about it last night. Running recuva to try and restore them, but it’s a small SSD so I doubt I’ll have any luck there.

Update: Looks like I was finally able to get Plex running at least. After uninstalling Plex and deleting the local AllData folder, you also need to delete the leftover registry keys.

After doing this I was able to reinstall Plex and restart from scratch, which is better than it not being able to start at all.
