Unacceptable plex.tv hosted porn!

Way to go plex! You want to step up and host your own media… congrats on making porn available for my children! Maybe some filtering is needed! UNACCEPTABLE!

Thanks BigWheel. I was just shocked! I don’t have anything against this for adults, but when it comes up in a general search for my kids… that’s a whole different story…

What is the “Metadata” section… I’ve never seen it before, but I tried this search to see if it came up for me and it does… So I was curious to know, is it something recently added? Has it always been there? Is it for trailers or something?

No I think it is maybe something to prefetch metadata, (posters and such) and is just grabbing everything. I don’t think that “metadata” section is supposed to be viewed by users at all. Nothing actually plays if you try to play it.

Plex should charge extra for da pron.

Also, if you need some one to manually hand curate all on demand content, I’m for hire, but not cheap.

Not sure either, I was thinking something to do with the new plex.tv hosted movies and shows. Didn’t try to play anything.

As far as I know, Plex doesn’t host their own content. The Plex Movies & TV are hosted by the providers (Warner Brothers, Lionsgate, etc), and it’s all mainstream hollywood stuff, none of them make porn, so, I don’t think it’s that. What BigWheel said seems accurate, but that begs the question, if it’s prefetch metadata, how on earth is it grabbing what appears to be an entire movie? I tried to play one of the toy story movies in that section and it clearly gives a length, and that length appears to be correct when comparing to my actual library, but it doesn’t actually play, and I know for sure Plex hasn’t gotten a contract with Disney (Disney is pulling out of all of their streaming contracts now that they have Disney+ up and running and they own Majority share of HULU).

Edit: The good news is, it only appears to be a problem on app.plex.tv, I tried the Plex app in Windows, the Plex Web app from localhost, and my FireStick, and it doesn’t show on any of those, so… Hopefully your kids aren’t watching plex from a web browser using app.plex.tv

If you know what to search for you can get some pretty explicit cover art in those search results, even if the movies themselves don’t play.

All that stuff is metadata just like you see on IMDB which has the length of movies and such

I tried the search from the plex app on android and it doesn’t seem to appear thankfully. Haven’t tried it on my kids roku’s yet, but it is for sure coming up on the web browser version.

Oh, I get that the length and stuff like that is present on IMDB and TheMovieDB, but that can’t be used to create a dead file can it? I mean, it is trying to play something, presumably a file at the other end, and that file has a correct play length… Admittedly I don’t know enough about it to know if that is possible or not, but typically, runtime information is extracted from the file itself, and not the metadata provided by IMDB and TheMovieDB, otherwise the extended versions of movies I have wouldn’t show the correct length, right?

yes, but ONLY at app.plex.tv. If you use 127.0.0.1:32400/web or 192.168.x.x:32400/web (the LAN IP of the Machine Plex is hosted on), it doesn’t show up.

This is hilarious. Plex makes ME be embarrassed to be a dev. What have become of us? People are actually paying people like us to solve problems, and we are only interested in MOAR MANEH and are just treating them like beta testers.
Software should be tested before being pushed out to the customers, especially so if they are paying, and even more so if there could be children involved.

If you set-up Plex Home properly you can do this yourself and regain control yourself.

That’s no longer true, once you’ve updated PMS to 1.18.6

What? I am on 1.18.6.2368 with web version 4.20.2, and it still holds true here… What are you talking about?

My local web app is also on V 4.20.2 and I can see and browse the VOD library in it.
(playback still fails due to missing TLS)

This isn’t about the VOD Library, it’s about the “METADATA” Section from the users original post. That section only shows up under app.plex.tv when doing a search.

You’re right. My bad.
