Unclaimed Server Horror

Server Version#:1.21.3.4046-3c1c83ba4
Player Version#:

A couple weeks ago, I had 2 Plex servers working fine till I got the “No Soup For You” error. Clever, that. Deleting servers and uninstalling and reinstalling the plex server on my Synology box (DS416play) a dozen times results in same old “This server is unclaimed and not secure” msg. Deleting all things plex on both my PC (Windows 10 x64) and NAS resolves nothing.
Was hoping for a step by step guide to a “Claimed” and functional Plex server.

I reviewed your account (the Plex.tv registry of servers)

I saw the i5 server.
I also saw you had deleted it.

I took the liberty of fully removing it.

I’d like to suggest you restart PMS now and try to reclaim.

I think there might be an issue. I did this for another user today and my actions resolved the problem.

If it resolves it for you then we’re on to something.

I signed out of PMS and attempted to re-access my server. Still, I see the old unclaimed server mess.

SO I uninstalled the Plex server from my Synology box and checked for any local remnants in my registry and localappdata folders and they are still empty/missing/gone. Re-installed the same version of PMS on my Synology box. Setup drops down a red “claiming the server failure” dialog box. Continuing the setup gets me back to the “Unclaimed” server error. Pressing the “Claim Server” button spins for 2 seconds before changing absolutely nothing.

How does it know that I deleted 2 servers? There must be some database somewhere that lists my account as something that deserves no soup.

I could delete my account, but I suspect/believe that would do nothing more than delay my next “unclaimed server” error for 30 days.

I think your platform is truly fantastic when it works, but is a terrible pain in the “neck” when it decides you no longer deserve any soup. It’s easy to get on the wrong side of the soup ■■■■ but impossible to redeem yourself afterwards.

The punitive nature of the PMS is somewhat concerning. Shouldn’t you have access to a reset button? When things get so hosed up that you’re willing to sacrifice 30 days for a chance to create another account because that grim reality is preferable to the agony of repeated failures, you guys need to introduce the “Reset Button”.

I could give a damn about losing any/all metadata. That is basically eye candy. What I’m begging for is a return to basic functionality. I fail to see the upside of implementing a bunch of punitive code to absolutely ensure nobody gets over on the Soup ■■■■.

Perhaps you can enlighten me?

Did you, after I cleared out the old servers, click CTRL-F5 in the browser to force it to reload? The equivalence would be to fully close and reopen/reload.

I will send you in PM what exists. I know what you’re seeing is browser cached.

Deleting the account is NOT necessary.

This is a matter of cleaning up the issues from first efforts and then proceeding forward

Uninstalled the PMS and powered down the Synology box and let it sit for a couple hours.

Saw your reply and rebooted my PC and then installed the very latest PMS on the Synology box. Working thru the setup yielded the exact same results. Before I can add my library, I get the red Unsecured server dialog box. SO I hit CTRL-F5 and retried. No difference.

Maybe I’d have better luck if we did this over the phone?

I could devote the next hour to resolving this issue if you’re up for it.
