I already install new version of plex server on qnap 253 pro and now I can play movie with subtitles on my PS4.

No, I don’t think it’s transcoding because I watch anime just fine with .ass / .srt. I think it’s how consoles handle files vs how PMS handles them.

My buddy had this issue with a movie, I’m rollin’ Version 1.13.5.5332. He’s using a PS4. I have no issues via the web client, or through my smart tv, or through my rpi3 streaming.

Also, for those of you who had issues with playing files after you disabled subtitles, try setting the quality back to “Original”. That fixed it for my buddy.

Just thought I’d let you guys know, I got this error while my computer running the Plex Media Server and where my files are stored was doing a lot of work. When my computer stopped running that program, I no longer got an error and everything worked fine again on my PS4.

Yeah, let me clarify. My pc has my movies etc, it runs the pms. My computer was running a program which took up pretty much all of the pc’s power. So when I went to watch a movie on my PS4, I kept getting this error. When the program on my PC stopped running (I was unlocking a rar file using a brute force tool), everything worked fine again and I no longer got the error.

I’m quite new to Plex and I have been getting this error on subtitled videos on PS4. Are there any fixes to this?

Probably no use posting, since this issue has apparently existed for years and has not been fixed and there has been minimal reply from Plex… but I am experiencing the same error. Plex was working just fine (incl. subtitles) for a few days, and since today I can’t use it anymore because of this error. Nothing will play, whether I turn off subtitles or not.
Too bad, was very excited about the idea of Plex. Guess I will uninstall

This is happening to me, unsure if how but here’s my problem.

1. Using Samsung Plex TV App, get a error code which MIGHT be related to this?
2. Using Shuffle Mode, hits certain TV shows, which I presume based on this thread, and the error code are subtitle TV Shows. (PS4 App)

Since this hasn’t been fixed yet, I have to wonder how long I’ll need to hit skip for?

@Plex can we get a timeframe for a fix on this? If it means Setting subtitles to global disable, can I be informed of how to do that so it doesn’t affect me? Paying monthly for this, would appreciate a fix to this years long issue.

Ok, so I’ve also tested the video files on other platforms, and the same error occurs, so it seems the problem is the Plex server is having a problem running these files for some reason and isn’t the platform it’s playing on.

I went into the settings, agents, movies, and unchecked local media assets and it resolved my problem for playing movies and tv shows on my ps3 from a synology nas. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200471113-configuring-subtitle-support/

This is stupid… 3 years people get this error it is obvious it is not an updated server issue but something else. Where is a solution or link to what the error number actually refers to. It is like getting and error and the number is just some random crap 1223437829462378456237845382 woohoo where is the fix.

Anyway here’s my fix as it seems these error codes mean nothing and no solution is the same. All I had to do was check my IP address for the server. I enabled DHCP and it changed my IP and my ports etc were setup in my router for the static IP address I made for my server so I just disabled DHCP and put my IP address back to how it was when working.

I don’t think I have found any official support for Plex to be existent and as it seems you find your own solution. So if my solution don’t help just try the hundreds of other solutions for the same error.

I have this issue too but it seems I have it only with about specific collection of movies (Star Wars), all other movies are working fine.

Edit: I could find out the issue, the specific Transcoder was missing, after a reinstallation of the docker container all was running fine again. I would recommend to check the logs of the Plex server into the gui to check what the console will say.
