happy new year to everyone!
i am experiencing this error for quite some time, but it only happens for 1 show and on 1 device. everything else seems to work well. i have read the different topics on the forum concerning this issue, but none seems to address my particular problem, so i decided to write this post and see if anyone with more knowledge than me has any ideas as to how to solve it.
this is the sequence of events:
1- i had a plex server on pc1, media on connected-drive1, and i watched it on samsung 2013 tv.
2- i added the show “leverage” and i watched it. no issues whatsoever.
3- i migrated plex server to pc2, migrated media to connected-drive2 and i bought a samsung 2021 tv. everything works fine.
4- one day i tried to watch leverage again, and i received this “unexpectd playback error ocurred” message on the tv. i thought it was temporary so i let it go.
5- i tried again a couple or more times and same result.
6- at this point i realized that the problem may not be temporary.
these are the actions taken:
1- thinking that the problem could be the files, i downloaded a new copy of the show (different files) and i added them to the media, having both copies at the same time. error continues.
2- thinking that the problem could be that the old files were interfering, i deleted the old files, leaving only the new ones. error continues.
3- thinking that “something” could be stuck in the server or logs or wherever, i moved the files out of the folder read by plex, refreshed library, emptied trash, added files again. error continues.
4- thiking that the second set of files could be faulty also, i repeated steps 1. 2 and 3 again with a new set of files. error continues.
5- i tried to watch it on the plex app. it plays well.
6- i tried to watch it on the plex media player on windows. it plays well.
7- i tried to watch it on an android device. it plays well.
8- i tried to watch it on the old samsung 2013 tv (a relative has it). it plays well.
9- just to try something else, i took a file that i know that plays well, renamed it, added to the library, so it shows as “leverage” (even though it is not). it plays well.
10- thinking that the issue is on the type of file (i read on another post something about .mkv files) not being compatible/readable with the tv, i copied the files onto a usb stick and connected it to the tv directly. the files plays well outside plex.
so it is at this point that i am out of ideas, and i turn to those who know how plex works to see if someone can think of a solution. by the way, this is my first time uploading logs (i think?), so in case i did not do it correctly, kindly let me know and i will retry.
