Unlocked Plex account for playback on iphone, it isn't unlocked on ipad (wife's apple ID on the ipad)

Hey all. Is unlocking (the $5 one) only for each device, each account, or each Apple ID?

I’ve paid to unlock it for our Roku ($5) and decided to unlock playback on IOS, so I unlocked it last night ($5) using my iphone. I logged into my Plex account on the iPad, but it’s not unlocked.

Do I have to pay $5 for any device I want to play it on? I’m ok with paying $5 for Roku and then $5 for IOS, but not another $5 for the iPad.

Does it have to do with apple ID? My wife’s appleID is connected with the ipad. If that’s my problem, do you know if I can cancel the $5 I paid on my apppleID and then buy it with my wife’s?

The unlock is per Apple ID (same for other platforms)
Due to restrictions of the App Store, „family sharing“ is not available for in-app purchases as the one-time activation.

So every device in my family has to purchase the $6 app ?? sounds ridiculous.

I wanted to download the app on my wife’s iphone for backing up her photos and it wanted me to download and purchase the Playback unlock or whatever its called so you can remove the restrictions. I got around this by adding a home user and logging in with my account.
