Server Version#: Version 1.16.6.1592
Player Version#: Plex for Xbox One 2.38.0.70
I have recently setup a Synology DS918+ as a Plex Server, I am streaming locally to an Xbox One X and the playback is constantly buffering, and videos cannot be watched.
The behaviour happens with Direct Play enabled / disabled.
With direct play enabled the Synology reports very low CPU usage (as expected) but sometimes the Plex transcoder process shoots up to around 12% - is this normal, what would it be transcoding if direct play is enabled (is it audio), should the cpu process be stable or should it spike like that?
With Transcoding enabled the process is around 15-20 and often goes as low as 0.2% - why does it drop so low?
The Xbox One X is connected via ethernet to the network.
I have also noticed in the Activity dashboard it says “nothing is currently being played”
Xbox One X has some serious inherent buffering issues with Plex, this has been a constant battle for probably 2 years now where either an Xbox OS update or a Plex update will break it.
Please PM @Moussa your issues as he is gathering issues to send to MS regarding the buffering problems with Plex on the Xbox one
Ok so It actually works on the Xbox One X with direct play disabled.
I initially tried it using the default setting (direct play) and I was getting buffering issues. I then tried the day after with direct play turned off and also got buffering issues.
Turns out the disk usage on the Synology was stuck at 100% and a reboot of the server got it back to normal, I can now watch films while transcoding however still get buffering issues with direct play.
What info would @Moussa need for us to try and resolve this?
This problem recently reappeared for me too. Had disappeared for a while but I’m starting to see more posts about it as MS apparently released an XB1 update. @Moussa usually has some good info.
Yep this is the issue a lot of us have been having, Please send @moussa a PM with your issue and please submit a bug report directly on your Xbox when the endless buffer loop happens
I think some of us were assuming your buffer issues were the Plex client related buffer issues a lot of us are having on the Xbox version and not related to your disk issues
