I have AT&T Uverse and have had 0 problems (6 months+) running plex after I configured port forwarding. Maybe two weeks ago (at least when I noticed it) the server is no longer accessible outside of my network. Internal is fine.
If I monkey with the port settings, IP etc it will say accessible for up to a minute! before it then switches back unavailable.
I have called AT&T and they offered to fix the issue for $49 claiming they know what it is, and judging by the forums it appears they will unblock the port (if that is the issue) but I cannot get any real information out of them.
Check your router WAN address and see if the public address on the Plex remote access page is different. If it is, it’s definitely something of AT&T’s doing.
This is due to a bad firmware update that AT&T forced on all their Arris BGW210 gateways since early August, there was never anything wrong on Plex’s end. Here are my fix instructions, hopefully they work for you too:
Oh no Hopefully it could just be some kind of cache issue? I also restarted Plex Media Server and my machine itself a few times, so maybe that’s the final piece of this stupid puzzle.
I swear.
So it was “available outside my network” all afternoon after I did factory reset of the gateway but I couldn’t sign in at all from anywhere.
Kept saying it was an unclaimed server so I rebooted “claimed” the server and now its back to not available outside the network.
fml.
Version router is now running is 1.6.7
Nice! If they didn’t fix it completely in the new version, you can always downgrade to 1.5.12 like I did, it’s been working perfectly for me since I rolled back.
