Unsecured PMS supported

Server Version#: 4.133.0
Player Version#:8.38.1

I have a PMS on hosted on an EC2 (Amazon Linux2) in AWS. It has a public IP address but no certificate, therefore insecure HTTP only. I have claimed the server and added it to my Plex account. I have a Plex Pass on my account.

To play content on my Plex Player running on my LG TV I did the following:
1 - Add the EC2 PMS IP address into the ‘Manual Servers’ in Settings
2 - set ‘Allow insecure connections’ to always in Advanced Settings
Now I can stream from the AWS EC2 server perfectly, direct play 4K no issues, plays very well.

I would like to do the same with an Apple TV Plex player, however the apple TV plex player doesn’t have a ‘manual servers’ setting. Reading the support pages my understanding is some players (apple TV plex player for example) don’t allow insecure connections.

Running an insecure connection probably isn’t a good long term idea but this is short term to get over streaming remote issues from my local Synology NAS (double NAT, low upstreaming rates, bad connection). I turn the EC2 off when not required.

Is there a way I can play content from an insecure server via the Apple TV Plex player?
If not then what other options do I have?

Thanks

Add the IP address to your server settings settings > Network > Custom server access URLs (including http:// and the port).

http://your.public.ip.address:port

This will automatically make all your clients discover the address on their own without entering any “manual server”. It will also automatically create an HTTPS certificate for you to make the connection secured.

Hello SwiftPanda16, thank you for the very quick reply.

I’ve been trying exactly what you recommended but can’t get it to connect.

I added it into the Custom Server Access URL using http only and including the port (http://my.public.ip.address:32400).
I added it to both my local Synology NAS) server and the remote AWS EC2 server.
The local NAS is accessable so I assume it must have read it.
As soon as I removed the Manual Servers connection to the server was lost.

Do you have any other ideas?

Update: I enabled ‘remote Access’ and it worked. I didn’t realise it was disabled.

Thank you SwiftPanda16 for your help.
