Unshared libraries are visible

So I just had an alarming experience. I have 5 libraries on my server. 3 are shared with everyone, 2 are not shared with anyone, only available through the admin account (PIN code).

These 2 libraries were not appearing (as desired) in the PLEX Amazon Firestick app or the ROKU app in non-admin home user accounts, only in the admin account.

Today I installed the PLEX app clean (first time installs) on 2 different iPhones, which were both connected to my WIFI, and both devices, even before receiving or accepting a friend request from my server, were immediately able to see and browse all 5 libraries on my server. To be clear, they had done nothing but create a free PLEX account from within the app, and run the app.

This persisted after I removed them from my WIFI. I had to immediately delete the libraries to prevent them from seeing them, and even after the libraries were deleted and I had rebooted the PLEX server, they were still able to see and browse the libraries on both devices until I quit and restarted the PLEX app on the devices, after which the 2 deleted libraries were finally gone from their devices.

My server is running the latest version, and again these were 2 iPhones with no access to my server, just on my WIFI network. I’m hoping this is a result of something I failed to set or set incorrectly on those 2 libraries and that this can be fixed somehow.

Please help! Let me know if you require any additional information. I’m sorry if this is in the wrong category, but I didn’t see another category that seemed appropriate.

Thanks,
Jeff~

I am not sure, as I have never used it, but I suspect this might be the culprit

This is in Settings>Network btw, scroll down

If I understand that setting, it means that if you enable it and add your network IP range, people can connect to your plex, simply by having the app, while on your wifi network… Since there’s no account to tie permissions to, it gives them full access…

I could be wrong though… it’s just a suspicion as I have never used this feature myself…

Ahah! That’s entirely possible - I had my router’s IP in there slash subnet; X.X.X.X/255.255.255.0. That would make total sense. Thank you for the speedy reply, and for the intel! I will delete the settings from that field, reboot the server, uninstall the app, reboot one of the phones and start from scratch and see if that does the trick and report back here.

Thanks again!!
Jeff~

hehe no problem man, glad I could help… I didn’t enable that setting when I first signed up because of the implications of it… I was like “no account = no way to hide libraries from them, that’s not good”
