Something they updated a couple months ago server side has broken transcoding for a lot of people. I’ve tried falling back and still not working for me. I didn’t change anything and then all of sudden 4k,1080p,720p videos that need HW transcoding buffer till failure. I can only play perfect files, perfect audio, perfect video and SRT subtitles as to not envoke the hw transcoding that isn’t working for the last couple months

Ok so HW Transcoding is working again. But on LG G2 TV, the Plex app won’t software transcode for audio. It just buffers for like 5 minutes and then fails the playback. But if I force it to HW transcode (change the video quality lower) it plays normally.

Well, this is the original issue, movie will not play if only audio track is transcoded and SRT subtitles are enabled. If audio track is compatible (does not need transcoding) OR SRT subtitles are turned off, it will play correctly.

I’m saying Subtitles doesn’t matter to the failure for me. I see with LG Plex, if it’s just audio that transcodes it will only Software Transcode (which is correct process) but it fails to play after about 30 seconds. I haven’t even attempted to turn on Subs at all testing this.

There seems to be no fix yet. I checked the most recent update for LG Plex and it doesn’t mention transcode fixes.

Same issue here (Samsung TV 55CU8505), subtitles or not, any movies in Direct stream (4K/1080p) with audio transcode will run fine the first 30 seconds or so and then buffer for a few minutes then crash (ERROR Playback error occurred. Reason: Buffering Timeout, Player took too long buffering, stopping playback). Couldn’t get a better log about what’s going wrong :confused:

If I reduce the quality and “force” a transcode, the problem disappear.

Plex Media Server is running on a TrueNAS Scale server with an i3 10100, with the iGPU allocated to it. Network is 300mbps fiber client side and server side, ports are opened, insecure connection allowed, I basically tested everything I found on the net with no luck…

This is very sad for the Samsung Plex TV app…
