Update fails

Hi,
I’m trying to update my windows plex server to the latest beta. The download completed and each time I choose the install option I see the spinning indication on the left for about 12 seconds and the install fails with a 30002 code. Suggestions appreciated!!

Update “manually”:

  • Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
  • deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.)
  • for safety, reboot Windows
  • download the installation exe of the newer version and install it

(If you want to install an older version of PMS, take a look into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Updates)

Thanks. If I use that method, is there a way to retain my installation data? I do not want to loose information on my media database, that would take days to reconfigure.

If you heed this warning

do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.)
Disable any Registry optimizer/cleaner software.

then you won’t lose anything.

So uninstalling with windows button → plex media server right click uninstall won’t remove the config info in the registry or in
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server?
