hi all,
In my server settings I have ‘update my library automatically’ and ‘run a partial scan’ checked. I don’t allow media deletion and the ‘empty trash automatically after every scan’ is unchecked.
Plex does detect changes to my media folder - that works fine, and metadata is pulled in for each video. Typically, I then edit the title (if, for instance, there are two versions of the same show - e.g.: one the original version, the other a CGI effects version) and the Summary to match. (EDIT: and I padlock the changed fields, for whatever that’s worth)
But I noticed that if a) My HDD is slow to spin up, or b) I delete a file
the ‘update my library automatically’ function simply removes the library entries as if I had emptied the trash. If I reinstate the ‘lost’ files they are automatically detected - but the metadata is brand new, so I lose my edits.
Is there a way to have the auto update setting on, but if media isn’t found for any reason it just leaves the library entries intact (but marked as trash)?
thanks
Chris
