Server Version#: 4.87.2
Player Version#: all players
Since I recently updated the Plex docker (hadn’t done that in ages, at least 2 years), with a multitude of files I get either “Plex conversion failed” (on AppleTV) or “This server is not powerful enough to convert video.” Some of the files are older ones I used before and they have worked, before.
The server is idling on a 16 core 4216 Xeon CPU with more than 96GB RAM free and no core ever reaches more than maybe 25% load, so I find it hard to believe that it’s not powerful enough.
I tried multiple settings (including hurt my CPU), but it doesn’t change anything.
It happens directly in the same network (entering the Plex-Webinterface directly via the Docker image tab) as well as when connecting from outside the network via the Internet over plex.tv.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
edit: to clarify: any conversion needed means it stops working. I have old files which needed to be transcoded on the fly because of an audio codec, for example. They worked on an AppleTV when I checked automatically transcoding. Now they don’t, anymore.
Also, often the video starts playing without any issues, drops or anything, but suddenly the server is not powerful enough message gets displayed after 30seconds or so. So, this does not seem to be an actual transcoding problem, but something else …
Thx,
