Anyone else seeing this problem? Today when I logged onto Plex on my Fire Stick I had the option to switch to the “new” video player or stick with the old one.
I switched to the new one and now I can’t enable subtitles. I go into Playback settings and there is no where to enable them.
On my Shield, if the video does not have subtitles, then there is no option to enable them in the Playback Settings screen. For audio, if there is only one audio track, there is no option to choose audio in the Playback Settings screen.
You can still choose subtitle and audio tracks from the pre-play screen.
You can switch to the old player in Plex app settings -> Advanced.
On the Fire stick it’s not possible to revert back to the old player.
Thanks for the tip on the choosing the subtitles from the pre-play screen. I had always done it from within the show. Wish they would have kept this available.
I agree. I hope they don’t discontinue the current/old player. 1. It doesn’t allow you to set the subtitles while the show is going. 2. It doesn’t show the time of day that the current video will end (ie: 4:45PM).
I’ve a FireTV Cube 1st Gen (from 2018). In the Plex app settings (Advanced) it has the option to enable/disable the new player. It is on the far right, past the Network Logging & Submit Crash Reports settings.
